Is It Right For You?
Woman on phone

If you have a senior parent living alone, QuietCare can help you worry less...

She's getting frail, is she going to fall? (Maybe she's already fallen once.)

  • QuietCare will alert you if she's been in the bathroom for a long time. (Many falls, especially the really serious ones, happen in the middle of the night, when the senior wakes up and goes to the bathroom. And these are the times when she is least likely to remember to wear her "panic button.")
  • If she falls anywhere in the house in the middle of the night, QuietCare will recognize that she hasn't gotten up in the morning and send you and alert then. The long-term effects of falls are minimized by getting her to a hospital within 8 hours. Getting care that soon can be the difference between being able to come back home from the hospital and being forced to move right into a facility.
If she's sick, will she tell me?
  • QuietCare will alert you if she doesn't get up and leave the bedroom by a reasonable hour in the morning.
  • QuietCare will alert you if she's been up to use the bathroom a lot in the middle of the night.
  • QuietCare will alert you if she was particularly inactive the day before.
  • QuietCare will tell you whether she's been using the refrigerator (which is usually a good indicator of whether she's been eating).
Is she not sleeping well? Will she end up sick?
  • QuietCare will show you have active she's been at each hour of the day.
  • QuietCare will alert you if she's been up to use the bathroom a lot in the middle of the night.
Is she keeping the house temperature warm/cool enough? Will she end up sick?
  • QuietCare will alert you if her home gets too hot or too cold.
Is she taking her medication?.
  • QuietCare will tell whether she's been handling her medications. (We can't tell whether she actually took the right medication in the right dosage at the right time. But if she didn't even touch the box all day, you have an idea of what's going on.)
  • QuietCare will tell you if she's suddenly using the bathroom significantly less at night. (Some medications have the side-effect of causing people to have to use the bathroom a lot, so seeing this side-effect disappear is a warning sign.)
Is it time to change her level of support, either with home care or moving into a facility? She wants her independence and privacy, and she doesn't want to spend the money.
  • Many changes in status for a senior are triggered by a significant illness or fall. QuietCare can help you catch the early warning signs and head off a problem.
  • Many changes in status for a senior are triggered by the fear and worry of family members, hoping to prevent a real problem. QuietCare can help take some of that pressure off.
Ultimately, you and your parent will work together to keep her healthy. But QuietCare will give you give the information you need to help make decisions.
